Who’s Playing

Cleveland @ New England

Current Records: Cleveland 5-4; New England 5-4

What to Know

After two games on the road, the New England Patriots are heading back home. They will take on the Cleveland Browns at 1 p.m. ET next Sunday at Gillette Stadium. These two teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.

While not quite a landslide, the game between New England and the Carolina Panthers on Sunday was still a pretty decisive one as the Patriots wrapped it up with a 24-6 victory on the road. No one had a standout game offensively for New England, but they got scores from CB J.C. Jackson, RB Damien Harris, and TE Hunter Henry.

Meanwhile, Cleveland made easy work of the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday and carried off a 41-16 win. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Cleveland had established a 34-10 advantage. It was another big night for their RB Nick Chubb, who rushed for two TDs and 137 yards on 14 carries. Chubb put himself on the highlight reel with a 70-yard TD scramble down the left side of the field in the third quarter.

Cleveland’s defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Bengals’ offensive line to sack the QB five times for a total loss of 25 yards. The heavy lifting was done by CB Troy Hill and DE Myles Garrett, who each racked up two sacks.

The wins brought the Patriots up to 5-4 and the Browns to 5-4. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: New England enters the matchup having picked the ball off 13 times, good for first in the league. But Cleveland enters the matchup with only three thrown interceptions, good for third best in the NFL. We’ll see which of these strengths — offense or defense — will win out.
