What you need to know about the Magic

The Magic took a lopsided 123-90 defeat against the Nets on Wednesday. Shooting guard Terrence Ross (17 points) was the top scorer for Orlando. It’s been a challenging season for Orlando overall, but the Magic have pulled off a couple surprises. They knocked off the Jazz on Nov. 7 and the Knicks on Oct. 24.

Several young players are playing key roles for Orlando. Second-year point guard Cole Anthony leads the team with 19.3 points and 4.9 assists. He has help in the backcourt from rookie Jalen Suggs, who is averaging 11.6 points. Orlando hasn’t been a great team to bet on so far this season as the Magic are just 4-8 against the spread and have only covered one time in their last four games.

What you need to know about the Wizards

Meanwhile, it was a close one, but Washington sidestepped the Cleveland Cavaliers for a 97-94 victory on Wednesday. It was another big night for Washington center Montrezl Harrell, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Harrell will need to continue to carry a heavy load with Beal out on Saturday. He’s the team’s second-leading scorer with 18.1 points per game, while Spencer Dinwiddie is averaging 15.4 points. Washington is 7-3 against the spread this season, though expectations seem to be catching up. The Wizards went 5-1 ATS in their first six games, but have gone 2-2-1 since.
