What to Know
The Southern Utah Thunderbirds will face off against the Saint Mary’s Gaels on the road at 10 p.m. ET on Monday at University Credit Union Pavilion. Coming off of a loss in a game they were expected to win, Southern Utah now face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds.
The Thunderbirds came up short against the Dixie State Trailblazers this past Friday, falling 83-76. This was hardly the result Southern Utah or its fans were betting on, as they were favored by 10.5 points over Dixie State heading into this contest.
Meanwhile, Saint Mary’s was able to grind out a solid win over the Texas Southern Tigers this past Friday, winning 67-58. Saint Mary’s’ Dan Fotu looked sharp as he had 19 points in addition to nine rebounds.
Saint Mary’s’ victory lifted them to 2-0 while Southern Utah’s loss dropped them down to 1-1. We’ll see if the Gaels can repeat their recent success or if the Thunderbirds bounce back and reverse their fortune.
