Who’s Playing
South Alabama @ No. 14 Alabama
Current Records: South Alabama 1-1; Alabama 2-0
What to Know
The #14 Alabama Crimson Tide will play host again and welcome the South Alabama Jaguars to Coleman Coliseum, where tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide should still be riding high after a victory, while South Alabama will be looking to get back in the win column.
Bama strolled past the South Dakota State Jackrabbits with points to spare this past Friday, taking the contest 104-88. Guard Keon Ellis and guard Jahvon Quinerly were among the main playmakers for Bama as the former posted a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds and the latter had 26 points and eight assists along with five boards.
Meanwhile, South Alabama was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap this past Saturday as they fell 64-58 to the Wichita State Shockers. Jay Jay Chandler had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with only eight points on 3-for-12 shooting in his 31 minutes on the court.
Bama’s win brought them up to 2-0 while the Jaguars’ loss pulled them down to 1-1. Two last-season numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Crimson Tide come into the matchup boasting the 15th most points per game in college basketball at 79.7. But South Alabama ranks 26th in college basketball when it comes to points allowed per game, with only 70.9 on average. We’ll see which of these strengths — offense or defense — will win out.
