The Long Beach State Beach will be returning home after a two-game road trip. They will square off against the Utah Valley Wolverines at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday at The Walter Pyramid. Long Beach State is expected to win — but not by much — so they will need to come into the game prepared for a fight.
The Beach found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 100-79 punch to the gut against the UCLA Bruins on Monday. Long Beach State was surely aware of their 26.5-point disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result. Long Beach State’s loss came about despite a quality game from Colin Slater, who shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and finished with 27 points.
Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, the matchup between Utah Valley and the Pepperdine Waves on Monday was still a pretty decisive one as Utah Valley wrapped it up with an 86-74 victory on the road.
Utah Valley’s win lifted them to 2-1 while Long Beach State’s defeat dropped them down to 1-1. We’ll see if Utah Valley can repeat their recent success or if the Beach bounce back and reverse their fortune.
