College football odds, lines, bets, top predictions for Week 12, 2021: Proven model picks Michigan, Pittsburgh

No. 8 Notre Dame has quietly hung around in the College Football Playoff discussion following its loss to then-No. 7 Cincinnati in early October. The Fighting Irish have bounced back with five consecutive wins, including a 28-3 victory at Virginia last week. They are set to host Georgia Tech on Saturday as part of the Week 12 college football schedule. Notre Dame is a 17-point favorite in the latest Week 12 college football odds at Caesars Sportsbook.

The Fighting Irish have won their last five games by an average of 16.2 points. Will they cover the spread against Georgia Tech on Saturday? And which other college football lines should you be targeting on Friday and Saturday? Top Week 12 college football predictions

One of the top college football picks the model is recommending for Week 12: No. 18 Pittsburgh (-14.5) covers at home against Virginia in a 3:30 p.m. ET ACC matchup. The Panthers have a chance to clinch their berth in the ACC title game with a win on Saturday afternoon. They have bounced back from a loss to Miami with consecutive wins over Duke and North Carolina. Star quarterback Kenny Pickett has completed 67.5 percent of his passes for 3,517 yards and 32 touchdowns, putting him in the Heisman Trophy conversation.

Pickett is facing a Virginia defense that has allowed three touchdown passes in each of its past three games. SportsLine’s model projects Pickett to throw for 350 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday. Pittsburgh is covering the spread in well over 50 percent of simulations, while the under (66) is hitting almost 60 percent of the time.

Another one of the college football predictions from the model: No. 6 Michigan (-15.5) covers the two-score spread at Maryland in a 3:30 p.m. ET Big Ten battle. The Wolverines have bounced back from their loss at Michigan State with consecutive wins over Indiana and Penn State. They have now notched blowout victories over Wisconsin, Northwestern and Indiana in conference play. Michigan cannot afford another loss, so it will be motivated from the opening kick-off in Saturday’s matchup.

Maryland has now lost five of its last six games, with all those setbacks coming by at least 17 points. The Terrapins did not score more than 21 points in any of those game. SportLine’s model does not have Maryland cracking 20 points on Saturday, resulting in Michigan covering the spread in over 60 percent of simulations.
