Who’s Playing

No. 10 Wake Forest @ Clemson

Current Records: Wake Forest 9-1; Clemson 7-3

What to Know

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Clemson Tigers are set to square off in an ACC matchup at noon ET Nov. 20 at Memorial Stadium. Clemson will need to watch out since the Demon Deacons have now posted big point totals in their last five contests.

Last week, Wake Forest’s offense rose to the challenge against an NC State defense that boasted an average of only 16 points allowed. They skirted past the NC State Wolfpack 45-42. Wake Forest can attribute much of their success to RB Justice Ellison, who punched in two rushing touchdowns in addition to snatching one receiving TD, and QB Sam Hartman, who passed for three TDs and 290 yards on 47 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 43 yards.

Wake Forest’s defense was a presence as well, as it collected two interceptions and two fumbles. The picks came courtesy of DB Nick Andersen and DB J.J. Roberts.

Meanwhile, when you finish with 375 more yards than your opponent like Clemson did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They put a hurting on the Connecticut Huskies at home to the tune of 44-7. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7. No one had a standout game offensively for the Tigers, but they got scores from a handful of players including WR Will Swinney, WR Beaux Collins, and QB Taisun Phommachanh.

Special teams collected 14 points for Clemson. K B.T. Potter delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

The Demon Deacons are expected to lose this next one by 4.5. Those brave souls putting their money on Clemson against the spread have faith in an upset since their team’s 2-7 record ATS can’t hold a candle to Wake Forest’s 6-3.

Wake Forest is now 9-1 while the Tigers sit at 7-3. A pair of stats to keep an eye on: Wake Forest is 198th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown nine on the season. Clemsons have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the matchup with the 176th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown eight on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
