Why the Crimson Tide can cover

Alabama has an explosive receiving threat in Jameson Williams. The transfer from Ohio State leads the team in receiving yards (1,028) and receiving touchdowns (10). After his performance against New Mexico State last week, Williams ranks second in the SEC and 13th nationally in yards per reception (20.16). He has eight receptions of 50 yards or more in 2021, with seven of those eight plays resulting in a touchdown.

In addition, the Crimson Tide have dominated the series against Arkansas recently. Alabama has won 14 straight against the Razorbacks, including a 52-3 win in Fayetteville last year, and has not lost to Arkansas since 2006. The Tide’s average margin of victory during the streak is 27.6 points a game.

Why the Razorbacks can cover

Arkansas has one of the top rushing attacks in the country. The Razorbacks average 233.5 rushing yards per game, which ranks second in the SEC and sixth in the nation. They also are one of two FBS teams with four ball carriers who have at least 400 rushing yards this year: running back Trelon Smith (513), quarterback KJ Jefferson (474) and running backs Raheim Sanders (460) and Dominique Johnson (456).

In addition, Jefferson is one of the most dynamic dual-threat quarterbacks in the country. The 6-foot-3 junior from Sardis, Miss., has thrown for 1,990 yards and 17 touchdowns while gaining 474 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. He also ranks fourth in the conference in passing efficiency (161.2).
