Who’s Playing
Western Michigan @ Iowa
Current Records: Western Michigan 1-3; Iowa 5-0
What to Know
The Iowa Hawkeyes will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Western Michigan Broncos at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Hawkeyes will be strutting in after a win while WMU will be stumbling in from a defeat.
If there were any doubts why Iowa was a heavy favorite Thursday, the team quickly laid those doubts to rest. Everything went their way against the Alabama State Hornets on Thursday as they made off with a 108-82 victory. Iowa got double-digit scores from five players: forward Keegan Murray (26), guard Payton Sandfort (21), forward Kris Murray (17), guard Jordan Bohannon (12), and guard Joe Toussaint (11). Joe Toussaint’s performance made up for a slower matchup against the North Carolina Central Eagles on Tuesday. Toussaint’s points were the most he has had all year.
Meanwhile, WMU received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 80-63 to the Saginaw Valley Cardinals.
Iowa is now a perfect 5-0 while the Broncos sit at 1-3. A couple offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Hawkeyes come into the game boasting the most points per game in college basketball at 97.3. Less enviably, WMU has only been able to knock down 38% percent of their shots, which is the 27th lowest field goal percentage in college basketball.
