What to Know

The Memphis Grizzlies have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Utah Jazz and are hoping to record their first win since May 23rd. Memphis is on the road again Monday and plays against Utah at 9 p.m. ET Nov. 22 at Vivint Arena. The Jazz will be strutting in after a victory while the Grizz will be stumbling in from a defeat.

It’s hard to picture a worse loss than the 138-95 bruising that the Grizz suffered against the Minnesota Timberwolves this past Saturday. The Grizzlies were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 72-43. The top scorer for Memphis was small forward Desmond Bane (21 points).

Meanwhile, Utah strolled past the Sacramento Kings with points to spare this past Saturday, taking the contest 123-105. Utah’s center Rudy Gobert did his thing and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Gobert has had at least 11 rebounds.

The Grizzlies have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 10.50 point spread they are up against. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 3-0 against the spread when expected to lose.

When the two teams previously met in June, the Grizz lost to the Jazz on the road by a decisive 126-110 margin. The defeat knocked the Grizz out of the playoffs, so expect them to come at Utah with a vengeful fire.
