Who’s Playing
Jacksonville State @ Elon
Current Records: Jacksonville State 2-3; Elon 2-4
What to Know
The Elon Phoenix will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at 1 p.m. ET. Jacksonville State should still be riding high after a victory, while the Phoenix will be looking to get back in the win column.
Elon received a tough blow on Sunday as they fell 75-58 to the Temple Owls. The losing side was boosted by guard Hunter McIntosh, who had 16 points. McIntosh’s performance made up for a slower matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels last week. McIntosh’s points were the most he has had all year.
As for the Gamecocks, they have more to be thankful for after their contest against the Drexel Dragons on Wednesday. Jacksonville State came out on top against Drexel by a score of 72-64.
Elon is now 2-4 while Jacksonville State sits at 2-3. Two stats to keep an eye on: The Phoenix are 40th worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 11.3 on average. The Gamecocks have experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 48th most turnovers per game in college basketball, having accrued 15.6 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
