Why the Crimson Tide can cover

Alabama has an explosive receiving threat in Jameson Williams. The transfer from Ohio State ranks second in the country in receiving touchdowns (13), sixth in receiving yards (1,218) and ninth in yards per catch (20.64). He also ranks second in the nation in kickoff return touchdowns (two). Last week he had eight catches for 190 yards and three touchdowns against Arkansas.

In addition, the Crimson Tide face an Auburn offense that has struggled in the second half of games recently. Over their past four games, the Tigers are averaging just 0.57 points per drive in the second half of games. Last week, after taking a 14-0 first quarter lead against South Carolina, Auburn managed just three more points in a 21-17 loss.

Why the Tigers can cover

Auburn has a talented running back duo in Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter. A 6-foot sophomore from La Grange, Ga., Bigsby ranks fifth in the SEC in rushing yards per game (85.7). Meanwhile Hunter, a 5-foot-10 freshman from Philadelphia, Miss., is 12th (52.2). Hunter also ranks 12th among all FBS players in yards per carry (7.09).

In addition, the Tigers are likely to get back top receiver Kobe Hudson. A 6-foot-1 sophomore from Pine Mountain, Ga., Hudson took a big hit in the second half against Mississippi State and didn’t travel with the team to South Carolina last week. Hudson leads the team in receptions (37) and receiving yards (490) and is tied for second on the team in receiving touchdowns (two).
