What to Know
The Houston Rockets haven’t won a game against the Charlotte Hornets since Feb. 4 of last year, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Saturday. Houston will take on Charlotte at 8 p.m. ET at Toyota Center after having had a few days off. These two teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.
The Rockets have more to be thankful for after their matchup against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. Houston snuck past Chicago with a 118-113 victory. Houston’s small forward Danuel House Jr. filled up the stat sheet, picking up 18 points. House Jr. hadn’t helped his team much against the Boston Celtics on Monday, so this was a nice turnaround for him. House Jr.’s points were the most he has had all year.
A well-balanced attack led the Hornets over the Minnesota Timberwolves every single quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Charlotte took down Minnesota 133-115. Among those leading the charge for Charlotte was shooting guard Kelly Oubre Jr., who shot 7-for-13 from beyond the arc and finished with 27 points.
Houston is expected to lose this next one by 5.5. Their home court has been no bettor’s paradise, as they’ve failed to beat the spread in five of their seven home games.
Houston is now 2-16 while the Hornets sit at 13-8. A couple offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Rockets are fourth worst in the league in points per game, with only 101.2 on average. Charlotte’s offense has more to brag about, as they they enter the game with 112.9 points per game on average, good for second best in the league. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
