What to Know
The Atlanta Hawks will be returning home after a two-game road trip. They and the New York Knicks will face off at 7:30 p.m. ET Nov. 27 at State Farm Arena without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Atlanta is out to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
On Friday, the Hawks really took it to the Memphis Grizzlies for a full four quarters, racking up a 132-100 victory on the road. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Atlanta had established a 105-66 advantage. Point guard Trae Young and center Clint Capela were among the main playmakers for Atlanta as the former dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten assists and the latter posted a double-double on 23 points and 17 boards in addition to three blocks. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Capela has had at least 12 rebounds. Capela’s points were the most he has had all season.
Meanwhile, things couldn’t have gone much worse for New York as they lost 118-97 to the Phoenix Suns on Friday. One thing holding New York back was the mediocre play of shooting guard Evan Fournier, who did not have his best game: he played for 25 minutes with 4-for-15 shooting.
The Hawks are the favorite in this one, with an expected 7.5-point margin of victory. They have been consistent moneymakers against the spread when favored (8-4), so they might be worth a quick bet.
Atlanta didn’t have too much trouble with the Knicks on the road when the two teams previously met in June as they won 103-89. Atlanta’s win shoved New York out of the playoffs, so they have a target on their back.
