The Hampton Pirates will square off against the Norfolk State Spartans at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday at Footprint Center. Norfolk State will be strutting in after a win while the Pirates will be stumbling in from a loss.
It looks like Hampton got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap last Wednesday as they fell 58-52 to the South Florida Bulls. Najee Garvin (14 points) and Marquis Godwin (12 points) were the top scorers for Hampton.
As for Norfolk State, they have more to be thankful for after their game against the Regent Royals last week. Norfolk State was fully in charge, breezing past Regent 95-20 at home.
The Pirates are expected to lose this next one by 4.5. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the team has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
Hampton ended up a good deal behind Norfolk State when they played when the two teams previously met in December of last year, losing 76-64. Can Hampton avenge their defeat, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
