What you need to know about the Heat

The Heat came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chicago Bulls this past Saturday, sneaking past 107-104. Miami got its win on the backs of several key players, and it was point guard Kyle Lowry out in front picking up 19 points, six assists and five rebounds. The Heat also got 40 points from their bench, led by Gabe Vincent who had 20 points and shot 4-for-8 beyond the arc.

Miami’s two leading scorers are both questionable to suit up Monday as Jimmy Butler has a tail bone contusion while Tyler Herro is dealing with soreness. But the strength of Miami is on the defensive end of the court as it ranks second in points allowed per game and fourth in defensive efficiency. The Heat are elite on the defensive end despite being a poor shot-blocking team as their 2.4 blocks per game ranks last in the NBA.

What you need to know about the Nuggets

Meanwhile, the matchup between Denver and the Milwaukee Bucks this past Friday was not particularly close, with Denver falling 120-109. A silver lining for the Nuggets was the play of power forward Aaron Gordon, who had 18 points in addition to nine boards. It was MVP Nikola Jokic’s (wrist) fourth straight missed game and Denver has lost all four as part of an overall six-game losing streak.

Jokic is questionable for Monday, while Jamal Murray (knee) and Michael Porter Jr. (back) are out, potentially leaving the Nuggets without their three best players. The top healthy scorer is Will Barton who is averaging 16.3 points to go along with 5.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. With all of the injuries, Denver is struggling on offense as it ranks 26th in scoring after ranking eighth last season.
