Cowboys defensive tackle Trysten Hill has been suspended by the NFL for two games after his part in an altercation involving himself and Raiders offensive lineman John Simpson following Las Vegas’ Thanksgiving win over the Cowboys.
Hill is suspended without pay for violations of unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct. The NFL deemed that Hill’s actions were a violation of Rule 12, Section 2, Article 14 which prohibits striking, swinging at, or clubbing the head, neck, or face of an opponent with the wrist(s), arm(s), elbow(s), or hand(s). The league also determined that Hill had violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1 which prohibits any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship.
During CBS’ postgame coverage, cameras captured Hill swinging and knocking Simpson’s helmet off of his head. A scuffle involving several players from both teams ensured shortly thereafter.
Hill, who under the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement can appeal his suspension, is eligible to return to the Cowboys’ roster on Monday, Dec. 13. He will miss the Cowboys’ upcoming games against the New Orleans Saints and the Washington Football Team.
