Although the Cleveland Cavaliers were the underdogs at tipoff, they’ve since taken control of the game. They are way out in front at halftime with a 61-43 lead over the Miami Heat.
Cleveland has been relying on power forward Kevin Love, who has shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and has recorded 17 points, three dimes and four rebounds, and center Jarrett Allen, who has 13 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. A double-double would be Allen’s fifth in a row.
Miami has been led by point guard Tyler Herro, who so far has 15 points and five assists.
The Cavaliers’ lead is the biggest they have had this year going into the third quarter.

What to Know
The Cleveland Cavaliers are 5-16 against the Miami Heat since October of 2015, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Wednesday. The Cavaliers’ road trip will continue as they head to FTX Arena at 7:30 p.m. ET to face off against Miami. The point spread is more or less neutral, so fans should expect a close contest.
Cleveland had enough points to win and then some against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, taking their matchup 114-96. It was another big night for Cleveland’s center Jarrett Allen, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Miami came up short against the Denver Nuggets on Monday, falling 120-111. A silver lining for Miami was the play of point guard Kyle Lowry, who posted a double-double on 17 points and 14 dimes.
The Cavaliers’ victory brought them up to 11-10 while the Heat’s loss pulled them down to 13-8. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Cleveland comes into the game boasting the second fewest fouls per game in the league at 16.5. But Miami enters the matchup with 20.2 fouls drawn per game on average, good for second best in the league. The ref’s whistle might dictate the flow of action in this one.
