What you need to know about the Nets

Brooklyn didn’t have too much room to spare in its contest with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, but still walked away with a 110-105 win. Brooklyn’s power forward Kevin Durant dropped a double-double on 30 points and 10 boards while dishing out six assists.

Durant will once again be in MVP consideration if he can stay healthy this season, as he’s shooting 53.7 percent from the floor and averaging 28.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. Patty Mills also had 23 points in the victory over Minnesota and he now has five 20-point games in his last nine contests. Since it is the second half a of a back-to-back, it’ll be important to monitor the status of veterans like Durant and James Harden for Saturday.

What you need to know about the Bulls

Meanwhile, Chicago sure made it a nail-biter after taking a huge lead into half, but managed to escape with a 119-115 victory over the New York Knicks on Thursday. It was another big night for Chicago’s small forward DeMar DeRozan, who had 34 points along with six rebounds.

DeRozan has revived his career in Chicago and is once again looking like an all-star caliber player, averaging 26.3 points per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the floor. Zach LaVine is averaging 25.4 points per game this season and he and DeRozan are the only two teammates among the league’s top 10 scorers.
