What to Know
The San Jose State Spartans have enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they must head out on the road. They will take on the Pepperdine Waves at 10 p.m. ET Monday at Firestone Fieldhouse. SJSU should still be feeling good after a big victory, while Pepperdine will be looking to right the ship.
The Spartans took their contest against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks this past Friday by a conclusive 76-51 score. SJSU can attribute much of their success to forward Trey Anderson, who had 17 points along with eight boards, and guard Omari Moore, who had 13 points and seven assists in addition to five rebounds.
Meanwhile, the game between Pepperdine and the Santa Barbara Gauchos this past Friday was not particularly close, with Pepperdine falling 86-74. Guard Houston Mallette wasn’t much of a difference maker for the Waves; Mallette finished with only eight points on 3-for-10 shooting in his 31 minutes on the court.
SJSU is expected to lose this next one by 4. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 4-1 against the spread when expected to lose.
Pepperdine’s loss took them down to 2-8 while San Jose State’s win pulled them up to 4-3. If the Spartans want to win, they will need to focus on stopping Pepperdine’s forward Jan Zidek, who had 20 points in addition to seven boards, and center Victor Ohia Obioha, who had 15 points along with eight rebounds. We’ll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
