What to Know
The William & Mary Tribe are 5-1 against the Hampton Pirates since November of 2015, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Tribe’s homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hampton at 7 p.m. ET Dec. 9 at Kaplan Arena. Hampton should still be feeling good after a victory, while William & Mary will be looking to right the ship.
William & Mary ended up a good deal behind the Old Dominion Monarchs when they played on Tuesday, losing 74-59. Guard Connor Kochera put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted a double-double on 13 points and ten boards along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Hampton escaped with a win this past Saturday against the Norfolk State Spartans by the margin of a single free throw, 58-57.
The Tribe are now 1-9 while the Pirates sit at 3-6. A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: William & Mary has allowed their opponents to shoot 47.20% from the floor on average, which is the 16th highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. Hampton has experienced some struggles of their own as they have only been able to knock down 38.80% percent of their shots, which is the 11th lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
