Jose Aldo’s attempt to revitalize his career with a move to bantamweight continued to prove successful this past weekend. Aldo dominated Rob Font in the main event of UFC Fight Night to score a unanimous decision victory.

The win moved Aldo up a spot to No. 5 at bantamweight in the CBS Sports UFC Divisional Rankings. The win was Aldo’s third straight after a failed bid to capture the then-vacant UFC bantamweight championship against Petr Yan in July 2020. Perhaps most encouraging for fans of Aldo, the fight with Font was arguably the two-time former featherweight champion’s most complete and impressive showing since his decision to drop to 135 pounds in 2019.

Font slipped two spots to No. 7 in defeat. Font entered the fight on a four-fight winning streak and off the best result of his career, a convincing decision win over former division champion Cody Garbrandt.

Saturday’s UFC 269 features two fights featuring CBS Sports ranked fighters.

  • Lightweight: No. 1 Dustin Poirier vs. No. 2 Charles Oliveira
  • Women’s Bantamweight: No. 1 Amanda Nunes vs. No. 4 Julianna Pena
  • Flyweight: No. 6 Kai Kara-France vs. Cody Garbrandt
  • Featherweight: No. 9 Josh Emmett vs. Dan Ige
  • Bantamweight: No. 8 Pedro Munhoz vs. Dominick Cruz

  • Heavyweight: No. 10 Tai Tuivasa vs. Augusto Sakai

Rankings are compiled following the submission of ballots by Brent Brookhouse, Brian Campbell and Brandon Wise. Without further ado, here’s where things stand ahead of Saturday’s card.
