It’s one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL: the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Washington Football Team. Schedule makers saved their two annual meetings for Weeks 14 and 16 in 2021, which is important because it leaves the door open for 6-6 Washington to steal the division from the 8-4 Cowboys. America’s Team is a four-point favorite over Washington on Sunday, according to Caesars Sportsbook, and it sounds like Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy wouldn’t mind laying the points.

“We’re going to win this game. I’m confident in that,” McCarthy said Thursday, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

McCarthy is 0-2 against Washington since taking the Dallas job, but he’s guaranteeing a win this Sunday! Ron Rivera’s squad is on a four-game win streak that has landed them a wild-card spot if the regular season were to end today. Washington’s defense has woken up, and is a big reason why it is in the position it is. Over the four-game win streak, Washington has held its opponents to 21 points or fewer. In that same span, the team is second in rushing yards allowed per game, fourth in first downs allowed per game and sixth in third-down conversion percentage. This defense will certainly need to show up against Dak Prescott if Washington wants a chance at repeating as division champs.

The Cowboys got back on track last week on “Thursday Night Football” against the New Orleans Saints, defeating Taysom Hill and Co. 27-17. It wasn’t a perfect outing by any means, but was still a win to help the fans forget about their overtime loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thanksgiving. The Cowboys still statistically have the No. 1 offense in the NFL (416.3 total yards per game), and McCarthy is banking on that unit to outscore Taylor Heinicke and Terry McLaurin this week.
