Clippers vs. Spurs odds, line: 2021 NBA picks, Dec. 20 prediction from proven computer model

Clippers vs. Spurs odds, line: 2021 NBA picks, Dec. 20 prediction from proven computer model

The Los Angeles Clippers were one basket away from winning four of their last five games without Paul George (elbow) on Saturday, but came up just short against Oklahoma City. George, who is questionable for this matchup, could give the Clips a lift on Monday when they host the San Antonio Spurs for the second time this season. George had one of his best games of the year when the two sides last played in November, and could make his return to the lineup when they meet again at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Los Angeles is favored by 4.5 points in the latest Clippers vs. Spurs odds from Caesars Sportsbook, and the over-under is set at 217. Before entering any Spurs vs. Clippers picks, you’ll want to see the NBA predictions from the model at SportsLine.

What you need to know about the Clippers

The Oklahoma City Thunder evened the season series against the Clippers on Saturday, in a narrow 104-103 win. Los Angeles shooting guard Luke Kennard had a strong showing in the losing effort, and shot 7-for-13 from beyond the arc to finish with 27 points and seven boards. Terance Mann also made his fifth start of the year and showed well, with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field.

One of the things the Clippers have done well this season to keep an edge on opponents is playing tough defense without fouling too much. Los Angeles opponents average just 104.9 points per game, which is the sixth-lowest mark in the league. The Clippers also only average 18.2 personal fouls per contest. Los Angeles should have an even bigger leg-up than usual, as San Antonio has only hit 72 percent of its free throws this year, which is second from the bottom league-wide.

What you need to know about the Spurs

The Spurs came up short against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, and lost 121-114. San Antonio has lost five of its last eight games, and comes to Los Angeles to play the second game of a back-to-back. In three games that were played the day after a previous one this year, the Spurs have lost two, and they have allowed opponents to score more points (113 p/g) than in any other interval between games.

Since missing a game against the Nuggets a week-and-a-half ago with an ankle sprain, Keldon Johnson has stepped up as a playmaker for San Antonio. Against the Kings, he had a somewhat inefficient night, but still finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds. In the two preceding games against Charlotte and Utah, Johnson scored 45 total points with 11 boards, and he drained 7-of-12 three-point attempts.
