Packers vs. Browns odds, spread: 2021 NFL on Christmas picks, Week 16 prediction by model on 133-96 run

Packers vs. Browns odds, spread: 2021 NFL on Christmas picks, Week 16 prediction by model on 133-96 run

Defeating the Green Bay Packers has been a difficult task this season, but doing so at Lambeau Field has been downright impossible. The NFC North-champion Packers are the only remaining undefeated team at home in 2021, going 6-0 while outscoring their opponents 184-102. Green Bay (11-3) will attempt to maintain that perfect record on Saturday when it hosts the Cleveland Browns (7-7) in a 2021 NFL Christmas Day showdown. The Packers have won 11 consecutive home games since dropping a 28-22 decision to Minnesota in Week 8 of the 2020 season.

Kickoff from Lambeau Field is set for 4:30 p.m. ET. Green Bay is a 7.5-point favorite in the latest Packers vs. Browns odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total points scored is 46.5. Before locking in any Browns vs. Packers picks, make sure you see the latest NFL predictions from SportsLine’s proven projection model.

The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up over $7,000 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. The model enters Week 16 of the 2021 season on an incredible 133-96 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

The model also ranked in the Top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Why the Packers can cover

Green Bay has not been kind in defeating its visitors this season, as five of its six home victories have been by double-digits. The Packers have flourished at Lambeau Field under Matt LaFleur, going 20-2 there since he took over as head coach prior to the start of the 2019 campaign. That home record is the best in the NFL over that span, as is Green Bay’s plus-10.4 point differential in those contests.

Since suffering an embarrassing 38-3 loss to New Orleans in the 2021 NFL season-opener, the Packers have gone 11-1 with Aaron Rodgers under center. The three-time league MVP is having a season that could make him the first back-to-back winner of the award since Peyton Manning accomplished the feat in 2009. Rodgers has been superb over his last four contests, throwing for over 300 yards three times while recording 13 touchdown passes without an interception.

Why the Browns can cover

Getting quarterback Baker Mayfield back from the COVID-19/reserve list would be a step in the right direction for Cleveland, as third-string quarterback Nick Mullens threw for only 147 yards in last week’s 16-14 home loss against Las Vegas. The first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Mayfield would make his teammates more confident despite the fact he’s recorded 200 passing yards just once in his last four outings. The 26-year-old has thrown for 2,603 yards in 12 games this year, making him the first player in franchise history with at least 2,500 in each of his first four NFL campaigns.

Running back Nick Chubb rushed for 91 yards versus the Raiders, pushing him over the 1,000-yard mark for the third consecutive year. The 25-year-old, who finished with 996 yards as a rookie in 2018, is fourth in the league with 1,017. Chubb has posted four 100-yard performances in 2021 and surpassed 90 in two other contests.
