What to Know
The Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders haven’t won a matchup against the North Texas Mean Green since Feb. 10 of 2018, but they’ll be looking to end the drought on Saturday. Middle Tenn. and North Texas will face off in a Conference USA battle at 6 p.m. ET at The Super Pit. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’
It was close but no cigar for the Blue Raiders as they fell 65-61 to the Rice Owls on Thursday. Despite the defeat, Middle Tenn. got a solid performance out of forward DeAndre Dishman, who had 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Texas was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Thursday as they fell 69-63 to the UAB Blazers. Four players on North Texas scored in the double digits: guard Mardrez McBride (17), guard Tylor Perry (15), forward Thomas Bell (10), and forward Abou Ousmane (10).
Middle Tenn. is now 9-5 while the Mean Green sit at 8-4. A couple numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Blue Raiders rank 26th in college basketball when it comes to takeaways, with 16.9 on average. But North Texas comes into the game boasting the 28th fewest turnovers per game in college basketball at 10.7. These opposing strengths should make for an exciting matchup.
