The Fairfield Stags and the Monmouth Hawks will face off in an MAAC clash at 7:30 p.m. ET Jan. 20 at Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard. Fairfield is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
The Stags were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Sunday as they fell 72-66 to the Quinnipiac Bobcats.
Meanwhile, Monmouth was just a bucket shy of a win on Tuesday and fell 86-85 to the Iona Gaels.
Fairfield had enough points to win and then some against Monmouth when the two teams previously met in March of last year, taking their game 79-60. Fairfield’s victory shoved the Hawks out of the playoffs, so they have a target on their back.
