The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Old Dominion Monarchs will face off in a Conference USA clash at 7 p.m. ET Feb. 19 at E.A. Diddle Arena. The Hilltoppers should still be riding high after a victory, while Old Dominion will be looking to get back in the win column.
The Charlotte 49ers typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday WKU proved too difficult a challenge. WKU walked away with a 77-67 win. Their success was spearheaded by the efforts of guard Dayvion McKnight, who had 22 points and five assists, and guard Camron Justice, who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and finished with 20 points and seven assists.
Meanwhile, it was close but no cigar for Old Dominion as they fell 67-63 to the Marshall Thundering Herd on Thursday. Forward Kalu Ezikpe wasn’t much of a difference maker for Old Dominion; Ezikpe played for 28 minutes but put up just eight points on 3-for-12 shooting.
The Hilltoppers are now 16-11 while the Monarchs sit at 10-16. Two offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: WKU comes into the contest boasting the 21st highest field goal percentage in college basketball at 47.90%. Less enviably, Old Dominion is stumbling into the game with the 53rd fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 66.3 on average.
