The second running of the Rose derby is coming to West Yorkshire as Leeds United hosts Manchester United. In their first meeting, this season, Manchester United won 5-1 behind a Bruno Fernandes hat trick. Leeds are getting closer to the relegation zone as the defense continues to hemorrhage goals. Winless in their last three, Marcelo Bielsa’s squad are only five points above the relegation zone while Manchester Untied are fourth trying to hold off other challengers for their Champions League place.

Storylines

Leeds United: Based on who’s available, Bielsa doesn’t have much choice on his lineup as the team doesn’t have the defensive corps to contain Manchester United. Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford are expected to miss the match while Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas are viewed as game-time decisions. They have conceded 10 goals in their last five matches, so this isn’t exactly a great time to welcome Manchester United to town.

Manchester United: The team has been inconsistent under Ralf Rangnick, but results have been good enough to see United occupy a European spot. The defense has struggled with keeping clean sheets, but they’ve allowed fewer goals which is an easy way to win more games. United will eventually need to finish their chances as bad finishing caused them to draw two of their last three matches and fall out of the FA Cup but with Leeds’ shoddy defense, this is a perfect match for finishing practice.

Prediction

Manchester United still won’t score as many goals as you’d expect them to, but they’ll take care of business. Pick: Leeds United 1, Manchester United 3
