What to Know

The Pacific Tigers’ homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Portland Pilots at 10 p.m. ET Feb. 24 at Spanos Center. Portland will be strutting in after a victory while the Tigers will be stumbling in from a defeat.

A win for Pacific just wasn’t in the stars on Monday as the team never even grasped a temporary lead. They took a serious blow against the San Francisco Dons, falling 104-71. Four players on Pacific scored in the double digits: forward Jeremiah Bailey (20), guard Nick Blake (16), guard Alphonso Anderson (11), and guard Jaden Byers (10).

Meanwhile, it was a close one, but on Saturday Portland sidestepped the Pepperdine Waves for a 77-74 win. Among those leading the charge for Portland was forward Moses Wood, who shot 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and finished with 24 points and eight rebounds.

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Tigers are expected to win a tight contest on Thursday. But bettors beware: they are only 2-5-1 against the spread when favored.

Pacific’s loss took them down to 8-19 while Portland’s win pulled them up to 16-12. If the Pilots want to win, they will need to focus on stopping Pacific’s Jeremiah Bailey, who had 20 points, and Nick Blake, who had 16 points. We’ll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
