What to Know

The UCF Knights are 11-3 against the South Florida Bulls since January of 2016, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success Thursday. UCF and South Florida are set to clash at 7 p.m. ET March 10 at Dickies Arena in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

The Knights lost 73-72 to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Sunday on a last-minute half-court bomb from Tulsa’s forward Jeriah Horne as the clock expired. Despite their defeat, UCF got to see several of their players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. guard Darius Perry, who had 17 points along with seven rebounds, was the best among equals.

Meanwhile, South Florida has to be aching after a bruising 75-47 loss to the Temple Owls on Sunday. Forward Sam Hines Jr. (12 points) was the top scorer for the Bulls.

UCF is expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten Temple Jan. 5 easily too and instead slipped up with a 66-62. In other words, don’t count South Florida out just yet.
