Who’s Playing
Minnesota @ Dallas
Current Records: Minnesota 42-30; Dallas 43-28
What to Know
The Minnesota Timberwolves have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. They will square off against the Dallas Mavericks at 8:30 p.m. ET Monday at American Airlines Center. Averaging 137 points in their past three games, Minnesota’s high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Dallas better be ready for a challenge.
The Timberwolves didn’t have too much trouble with the Milwaukee Bucks at home this past Saturday as they won 138-119. Minnesota relied on the efforts of center Karl-Anthony Towns, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards in addition to five dimes, and small forward Anthony Edwards, who shot 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and finished with 25 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, things couldn’t have gone much worse for Dallas as they lost 129-108 to the Charlotte Hornets this past Saturday. Dallas was down 102-80 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Small forward Dorian Finney-Smith had a pretty forgettable game, playing for 28 minutes but putting up just eight points.
The Timberwolves are expected to lose this next one by 3.5. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
Minnesota’s victory brought them up to 42-30 while the Mavericks’ loss pulled them down to 43-28. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Minnesota comes into the game boasting the most points per game in the league at 115.5. But Dallas enters the matchup with only 104.1 points allowed per game on average, good for second best in the league. These opposing strengths should make for an exciting matchup.
