What to Know
The Los Angeles Lakers will take on the New Orleans Pelicans at 7 p.m. ET Sunday at Smoothie King Center after having had a few days off. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Los Angeles was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap this past Wednesday as they fell 126-121 to the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite the loss, the Lakers got a solid performance out of center Dwight Howard, who had 24 points along with eight boards.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but New Orleans had to settle for a 107-103 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs this past Saturday. One thing holding the Pelicans back was the mediocre play of point guard Devonte’ Graham, who did not have his best game: he finished with only six points on 2-for-10 shooting in his 28 minutes on the court.
Los Angeles is expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Oklahoma City Thunder Nov. 4 easily too and instead slipped up with a 107-104. In other words, don’t count New Orleans out just yet.
