It’s just like old times again for Daniel Theis and the Boston Celtics after starting center Robert Williams III suffered a torn meniscus in the team’s game on Sunday. Now, Theis is once again the starting center in Boston for the first time since March 24, 2021 after stints with the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets. In his reserve role since coming back to Boston, he has been far more efficient, but will that translate to top value as a starter in Monday’s NBA DFS player pool?
Since rejoining the Celtics 14 games ago, Theis’ minutes dropped from 22.5 to 13.9 per game, but he has made 60 percent of his shots. The rate of rebounds he has made while on the floor has jumped from 12.2 percent in Houston to 15.8 in Boston, and his block rate increased from 2.6 to 5.7 percent. Are those numbers enough to warrant putting him in your NBA DFS lineups for sites like DraftKings or FanDuel? Before you make your NBA DFS picks for Monday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.
McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.
This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.
On Sunday, McClure listed 76ers center Joel Embiid as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Embiid blew up against Phoenix, and scored 37 points to go with 15 rebounds, three steals and two blocks to return 70.25 points on DraftKings and 70.5 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.
Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, March 28, NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, March 28
One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks on Monday is Nuggets center Nikola Jokic ($12,200 on DraftKings and $10,900 on FanDuel). The reigning MVP has been in top form since missing a game for just the seventh time this season (non-COVID illness) on March 6, but he’s been especially hot over his last five games. During that stretch, he’s averaged 29.6 points, 10 rebounds, 6.4 assists, two steals and 1.4 blocks.
In his last start against Oklahoma City, he came just shy of a triple-double, with 35 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Denver takes on Charlotte on Monday, which hasn’t given away a ton of Fantasy points to opposing centers, but Jokic is matchup-proof. In his last game against the Hornets just before Christmas, he scored 29 points, grabbed 21 rebounds and picked out five assists.
Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray ($11,000 on DraftKings, $10,000 on FanDuel). Murray scored just 15 points against the Pelicans on Saturday, but it was part of a triple-double that also included 11 rebounds and 13 assists. He also came away with three steals in his 13th triple-double of the season.
The Spurs play at Houston on Monday, and though the Rockets have a backcourt that can also put up points, it’s not as tough on defense. Houston allows opposing guards to make the fifth-most field goals per game in the NBA, at 11.6 per game, and make the second-highest percentage at 68.5 percent. In three games against Houston this season, Murray has averaged 23.3 points, 10.7 assists and 7.3 rebounds.
